Wandering in Ehrenfeld, Cologne
K felt like we ought to go out today -- I agree. Yesterday we went for cake, and the cake we had amused us at the time. But today is a new day, and we were in no mood for cake. The weather in Cologne today was pleasantly warm for a November so felt that it mustn't go to waste.
Yes; today, we wanted to go outside. Unlike yesterday, we started without any plans or desires in particular. Normally we deal with such a stalemate by deciding to stay indoors -- bad weather is generally a good justification -- but we decided to get out into Ehrenfeld just to stave off atrophy.
We decided to start with a visit to Die Eisdielerin who make a number of very delicious ice cream flavours. Lavender ice cream is a highlight -- slightly citrussy. Worth a journey to Ehrenfeld just for that!
K had a scoop of milchreis flavour, and a scoop of almond creme flavour. I had a scoop of tonkabean with raspberry, and a scoop of pumpkin seed flavour. Sehr lecker. We then went to sit in the park for a bit to watch people bumble around with their Ehrenfelder haircuts and laptops.
After that, we went to some secondhand clothes shops. It's rare we find anything there but it's always worth a look: we found a hilarious jumper that's highly in favour of apples (plural - more than one apple).
Maybe some kind of apple marketing campaign for the fruit people?
Next was a visit to Alnatura and Denns to pick up some unusual soft drinks, just in case there's a new flavour called "Apples" I haven't heard about. We came away with two bottles of pineapple-lime soda, a bottle of grapefruit soda, and a bottle of elderflower soda. Quite a haul.
We got fed up of Ehrenfeld's noisiness and wanted to go home and relax. We took the tram home then bumped into a friend of K's on the walk back, a nice coincidence as we'd both wondered how her recent trip to England was (answer: she had a nice time).
Here's some pictures I took while we were out. I'm still using a funky feature phone to take photos, because it's fun. That's all for now! :)
